LOVE INTEREST TURNS SUPERHERO

Captain Marvel illustrated by Megan Bevis

It has been over a decade since the launch of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the first solo film led by a female character has made over $1 billion at the worldwide box office.

The successful movie released earlier this year stars Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, who went from the supporting role of the love interest in the 1968 Captain Marvel series to the superhero star herself.

Brie Larson spoke at the Women in the World conference, sharing, “I am grateful to have broken this glass ceiling of normalising the concept that women can also make a billion dollars.
